iheartfaces photo challenge: Beautiful black & white (March 2012)

I took this photo of my beautiful friend and thought converting it to black and white made her look even more classic and elegant. And those eyes…gorgeous! I haven’t participated in an i heart faces contest in a really long time and for a change I wanted to submit a photo of someone else besides my daughter.  Thank you Jackie for letting me post this gorgeous photo of you! 🙂

i heart faces weekly photo contest: autumn splendor

Although this week’s i heart faces photo contest did not require any visible faces in the picture I couldn’t resist entering this photo of Nora playing in the leaves. I love how fall leaves urge you to toss them in the air like confetti. Definitely, this photo captures a moment of autumn splendor. 🙂

i heart faces photo challenge: Tickled Pink!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, iheartfaces.com is holding a Tickled Pink contest. So, this is my interpretation of Kuan Yin, the goddess of compassion, all in pink, and instead of holding up her hand, she is holding a spoon of pink frosting. This is my way of trying to give more meaning to this photo than there really is! LOL In an attempt to take a photo before today’s deadline (an hour away), I asked Nora to pose for me, all in pink, holding a spoon of pink cream cheese frosting and at the end she would get to lick the spoon as her treat. She was pinked up and all smiles lickety split! Ironically, she thought the frosting was too sweet and didn’t even finish it, but, it worked to get her to pose for me!

iheartfaces weekly photo challenge: hands

My 5 year-old daughter took this photo of my husband and I when we were outside the Montes winery in Santa Cruz, Chile. She had the camera all over the place, capturing photos of our hands, feet, butts, etc. It was pretty hilarious since only a few photos captured our faces. At first glance you might think it’s a throwaway photo but, I loved my husband grabbing my waist and how my wedding ring sparkles in the foreground. I thought Nora’s photo was the perfect entry for this week’s HANDS theme. 🙂

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge: Shadows

This week’s I Heart Faces Photo Challenge is “shadows”. I immediately thought of this photo of Nora, taken at Shi Shi Beach in the late afternoon with her long shadow watching behind her. I remember being amazed that she just stood there for a long time admiring the view. She turned around and calmly told me “The waves are so pretty. I just love this view.” Current studies show that our children today have a “nature deficit.” I am so glad Nora can stop and smell the roses or admire a seaside vista with appreciation and joy.

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge: Sun Flare

This week’s photo challenge is about “Sun Flare.” Any type of sun flare is allowed: sun washed, sun kissed, sun flare, etc. I thought about this photo of Jordan, that I took for her senior portraits. It was 4:30 on a fall afternoon and for a few minutes the sun came out brighter than I’d hoped, causing a slight concern that the photos would look washed out. But, in this photo I loved the glowing, golden effect it gave her complexion, hair, tall grasses and trees. It makes me feel warm when I look at this photo. I thought this would be a perfect “sun kissed” photo for this week’s challenge.

Brrr…it’s cold outside! But, this barefoot beach shot of Norita at pristine Shi Shi Beach (Olympic National Park, WA) makes me feel warm inside! 🙂

I heart pink!! – Breast cancer can kiss my tushy!

This week’s i heart faces photo challenge is all about PINK! in honor of breast cancer awareness. Here’s to all the women, men (yes, men get breast cancer too) and girls who have breast cancer, have survived it, and to all of us that can do what we can to prevent it. I HEART PINK!!

I picked this pic of sweet Daphne Rose from a photo shoot I did this summer. In this shot I was trying to get her to loosen up by suggesting she stand on this picnic table and twirl around. As you can see…she definitely loosened up and got into the photo shoot! I had a couple other “pink” photos I considered which you can see in this other post.

One or…two???

I heart faces is featuring “pink” photos in honor of breast cancer awareness and I’m having a hard time choosing between these adorable shots of my friend’s daughter, Miss Daphne Rose. I’m probably leaning towards the photo showing off her dress…and tushy! They’re both cute but, I’m thinking that one better features “pink.” What do you think?
