365 Project – 56 : My adventurous daughter tastes her first ugly, wrinkly lilikoi…and likes it! (February 25, 2012)

For sure my daughter is an adventurous eater.  When my niece asked her if she wanted to taste an ugly-looking, wrinkly lilikoi (aka passion fruit), Nora replied “Sure!”  Slice open this wrinkly fruit then scoop out the tart-sweet juiciness and sink your teeth into the small crunchy seeds.  My daughter got me to try my first lilikoi too and me like!  If you find yourself at a tropical fruit stand, look for the yellow or purple varieties.  The more wrinkly and ugly, the better.  Yaay for adventurous eating! 🙂

365 Project – 55 : North Shore Palm Trees (February 24, 2012)

I’m not quite sure what it is about palm trees that fascinate me but, I kept taking photos of these graceful, statuesque, tropical icons. I took this before sunset trying to get the trees in sihlouette, the exposure set for some blue sky, and a bit of sun flare peeking through. I can picture this as a postcard with “Aloha from Hawaii!” in a cursive, sunset orange font…can’t you? 🙂

365 Project – 54 :Dreaming of my freshly-picked breakfast papaya…mmmmm (February 23, 2012)

I’m back home in sweet Port Angeles but, where oh where is my daily fresh papaya from our local farm stand around the bend?? Sheesh…I can just TASTE that creamy, luscious papaya, and my mouth is watering looking at this photo I took yesterday morning. If you’re in Hawaii, enjoy some juicy tropical fruit for me…PLEASE!!! 😉

365 Project – 53 : A “selfie” on Sunset Beach, Oahu (February 22, 2012)

Growing up, my papa was always the photographer and videographer (remember 8mm films?), so there are TONS of photos and movies of my mom and us kids, but, nary a photo of my handsome papa. The other day my hubby was talking to my daughter on the phone and asked “make sure to get some photos of mama too!” So, this is “kind’ve” a self-portrait since I set up the manual camera settings, told my niece how to compose the shot then just let my D5000 do its job. Vwallah! A photo of me with my daughter on Sunset Beach! 😉 As WordPress automatically publishes this scheduled post for me, I will be in transit back to our sweet Pacific Northwest home. But, I am not done posting my Hawaii pics. 17 days in paradise and I “only” ended up with ~ 600 pics with maybe enough good ones for my 365 project for a few more weeks? So, I will reminisce about our sweet vacation and post more tropical pics here for awhile. Thanks for joining me on my photog journey in Hawaii! Aloha!!

Banzai sushi roll from Banzai Sushi – Haleiwa, Oahu (iPhone foto)

This roll was soooo good I had to order two! “Spicy tuna, avocado & cucumber roll fried in tempura batter served with a garlic ponzu sauce.” OMG…happiness in my mouth! Two thumbs way up for this one!!! Go to the North Shore Marketplace in Haleiwa, Oahu and check them out. Banzai Sushi!
