365 Project – 94: BFFs – color or black and white? (April 8, 2013)

Looking for your opinion please! 🙂 THANKS!  Took this photo of the girls on the BC ferry to Horseshoe Bay and I love the hug and giggles in this pic, but, can’t decide on which version I like better!  I think I prefer the black and white version better but, what do you think? And, I’d love your feedback on the b&w post processing. Too bright? Or, for the original version, you think the saturation could be bumped up a bit?  Appreciate your opinions! – Meels

365 Project – 347: “sweet” – Day 12 iHeartFaces photo challenge (December 12, 2012)

These pics are from a photo shoot this last weekend and I thought this brother and sister were sooo sweet with each other. There’s about an 8 year difference between these siblings and they loved having their picture taken together, whether they were leaning against each other, or him sitting on her lap, or putting a hand on a shoulder. It was so nice to see that sibling love between them.

And, I just love this pic so I’m including it too. Doesn’t this look like a CD cover or something? Well, I just think it’s sweet! 😉

These photos were NOT straight out of the camera. They were post-processed in Lightroom applying MCP Actions Preset True Colors then manually, adjusting and editing.

365 Project – 261: 9 week-old Keiko and 9 year-old Paco (September 18, 2012)

Post-processed using Lightroom Preset B & W Creative – Blue Filter

Here’s 9 week-old Keiko meeting 9 year-old Paco for the first time for a little playdate.  I figured this pic might look better in black and white given the subjects so I experimented with several Lightroom Presets and the one that retained the yellow shading the best on Paco was the “B & W Creative – Blue Filter”.   I’m trying to learn more about converting photos to black and white.   If you have any tips for me, please share!  Well, in color or black and white,  for sure, Keiko is giving me puppy fever.  She is just sooo cute! 😉

365 Project – 260: Playing with black and white – SOOC vs. post-processed (September 17, 2012)

Shutter Speed: 1/50, Aperture: F/2.8, ISO: 400 – shot in MONOCHROME (MC) mode

Lightroom Post-Processed using Lightroom Preset AutoTone

Confirming once again that I don’t love the straight out of the camera MONOCHROME shots from my Nikon D5000.  I set this to MC, and in Manual mode I just trusted my light meter for these settings. In Lightroom I applied the fast Lightroom Preset “Auto Tone” and instantly preferred the post-processed version.  For a striking black and white I just think you need those stronger contrasts and blacks and whites which just does not appear possible SOOC in my D5000.  What do you think?
