365 Project – 47 : Hats off to you homeschool parents…but, me can’t do! (February 16, 2012)

Escaping the Pacific Northwest winter for 3 weeks is truly a treat but, leaving during the school year means scheduling time for homeschooling in between playing at the beach. Our kindergarten lessons are simple, and Norita has been mostly cooperative but, the biggest challenge has been overcoming our “special” mother-daughter dynamic, making listening and focusing harder than necessary. Because our family loves to travel, and to enable us to join my hubby on his lengthy overseas business trips, we considered homeschooling, BUT…I just don’t think I have it in me to add ANOTHER reason for Nora and I to butt heads. Ironically, Nora actually WANTS me to homeschool. Despite the head-butting she thinks I’m a good teacher and wants to quit school. Hmmm…who knows, maybe with time we could make it work? Nah! I don’t think we’d survive it unscathed! LOL For sure, to all my friends and all of you out there that make homeschooling work…I salute you!

  1. I’m in the same boat. My middle son would probably benefit from homeschooling. If he could get past his whole “thing” about not wanting me to teach him anything.

hehe Yeah, I think it’s tough for kids to listen to their parents sometimes…and for some parents to teach. My daughter is an angel at school, gymnastics, ballet, etc. but, then for me…well, i get the special treatment! HA! Thanks for stopping by my blog! 🙂
