Fall colors on the Olympic Peninsula and viewing the Lower Elwha Dam site (10/23/11)

Today was another gorgeous, crisp fall day here on the peninsula and although we are not known for our brilliant fall colors we are definitely enjoying a vibrant show of yellows, oranges, and reds in the midst of our evergreens.

This first photo of Nora was taken during our morning walk on the Peninsula College campus.

The last four photos were taken of the lower Elwha Dam from the new Elwha Dam viewing trail off Hwy 112. You can see the old road to the lower dam on the left side of the photo and a new waterfall on the right.

To get to the overlook where I took the photo of Nora and Paco it’s a pleasant 1/4 mile walk. It’s pretty exciting to see the progress of this historic dam removal.

There’s nothing like enyoing the beauty of your own backyard. I love where we live and I hope you enjoyed these fall photos of our lovely Olympic Peninsula. 🙂
