For our annual ski trip to Whistler, B.C. from Port Angeles we took the “leisurely” route via two ferries: Blackball Coho ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria, then an hour drive up to Nanaimo to catch the ferry to Horseshoe Bay. For our two families, packed into our SUV with rocket on top, it was way more fun driving less and getting out of the car and relaxing more. Only 2 hours sitting in the car versus 5-6 hours if we drove via Bellingham. The option to eat on the ferry is fun too, whether you do the buffet with big vistas, or hit the cafe’ for a salmon burger (my hubby’s fav), soft-serve ice cream (the girls choice), or a simple steamy latte’ (yup, for ME!) We were fortunate enough to get a gorgeous day to ride the Horseshoe Bay ferry so the views and fresh air from the sun deck were amazing, giving us all a chance to stretch our legs and laugh at the girls trying to wield their long hair in the wind. Even before arriving at Whistler, just riding the ferries gave us a fun start to our vacation!!
Looking for your opinion please! THANKS! Took this photo of the girls on the BC ferry to Horseshoe Bay and I love the hug and giggles in this pic, but, can’t decide on which version I like better! I think I prefer the black and white version better but, what do you think? And, I’d love your feedback on the b&w post processing. Too bright? Or, for the original version, you think the saturation could be bumped up a bit? Appreciate your opinions! – Meels
I’m behind on my 365 project but here are a few iPhone pics from Whistler, B.C. where we’re enjoying our spring break getaway. First one is of the girls at the base of Blackcomb Mountain and the rock climbing pic was taken at Core Whistler. Life is good…having fun and feeling grateful.
Nora and Isabella love each other. They’re both seasoned international travellers, they love to dance, frolic outdoors, and as only children they have created a special, beautiful, joyful sisterhood. And, these two each have their unique sense of fashion and creativity…as you can see here. I just love these two monkeys!!
Stunning blue skies blessed our recent girls’ getaway to Victoria, B.C. Close-up and personal experiences with a great blue heron and the adorable goats at Beacon Hill Park as well as being splashed by harbor seals at Fisherman’s Wharf were highlights of our visit. Springtime is a great time to see the Great Blue Herons since it’s nesting season. Taking the water taxi to Fisherman’s Wharf for some crispy fish & chips from Barb’s Place and sitting alfresco in the sun made for a great escape from the more-touristy downtown corridor. An unexpected treat was the encounter with the harbor seals visiting the dock. I’m not sure how I feel about feeding the seals but, for one dollar you can buy a sardine to feed the seals. It was entertaining and the girls of course loved it, even after they got splashed full-on with salty seawater in their faces and mouths. After their crying duet, this seal-splashing memory became one of the funnest moments of our trip!
Good company, good food, and the simple joy of walking around charming Victoria, B.C., made for a lovely getaway, just a short ferry ride away from home!! :)
