365 Project – 1: Untouched photos from my NikonD5000 with 50mm lens (January 3, 2012)

You could look at this as a good start, a bad start or an honest start to my photo blog project. I decided to challenge myself by posting SOTC (straight out of the camera) photos from my Nikon D5000 using my 50mm lens. Before I had a chance to fiddle with my settings, my daughter uncharacteristically wanted to pose in this “OM” pose in our bedroom. Lighting was poor, distractions were in the background, and the overall photo is out of focus. Even though I know HOW to take a better photo than this, I wanted to be true to my project and launch it with this imperfect photo. What better than to have my daughter posing as a buddha to bless my project?

My goal is to post 365 photos this year, although not necessarily one photo every day. My travel schedule just doesn’t allow for that sometimes. I’m looking forward to posting my untouched photos, eliminating the time spent fussing with post-processing, and hopefully improving my skills using my Nikon D5000 with my 50mm lens, straight out of the camera.

Happy Shooting!
